Democratic leaders are ready to end the nomination fight, according to the front page of the Post, which links to an Associated Press story about the leaders’ behind-the-scenes efforts. Party chairman Howard Dean, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) will all urge uncommitted superdelegates to pick sides next week, after the primary voting is over, the AP reports. In the blog, Bob Cesca writes that the media shouldn’t be surprised by former White House press secretary Scott McClellan’s revelations about the lead-up to the war in Iraq, as Barack Obama, Phil Donahue and other liberals had made similar points in opposing the war before it started. Instead of giving mea culpas, the media should focus on John McCain and his bellicose statements about Iraq and Iran, Cesca writes.
