Drudge Report

CIA Director Michael Hayden’s declaration that the United States has made major gains against al Qaeda tops the Drudge Report, which goes with the headline “CIA: al Qaeda Near Defeat.” In a Washington Post story, Hayden says the terror movement is essentially defeated in Iraq and Saudi Arabia and on the defensive elsewhere. In the political links, Drudge has stories about Democratic Party chairman Howard Dean and other party leaders ready to “lower the boom” on the nomination fight next week, Barack Obama’s skillful use of party rules to beat Hillary Clinton and a suggestion that former White House press secretary Scott McClellan will vote for Obama instead of John McCain.
