Former White House press secretary Scott McClellan’s predecessor, Ari Fleischer, says that McClellan told him privately that several of his new book’s passages were “tweaked” for effect by his publisher, Ed Morrissey notes. McClellan may have lied to Fleischer or tossed aside his principles for cash and allowed the publisher to change his writing, Morrissey writes. It’s surprising that Barack Obama is now willing to consider a trip to Iraq, a day after his campaign had called John McCain’s proposal that they visit the country together “a political stunt,” Allahpundit writes. Perhaps Obama is more calculating than the Clintons, the blogger adds.
