Hillary Clinton comparing the fight to seat Florida and Michigan’s delegates to the civil rights and slavery debate is nothing but an attempt to steal the nomination, writes Jonathan Chait. The blogger thinks the episode shows she’s too willing to “whip herself into a moralistic fervor” to back any position that would benefit her, Chait adds. Barack Obama should resist the temptation to hold Clinton up as a “feminist icon,” as he has done since clinching a pledged delegate majority, since Clinton’s campaign posture is so “aggressively negative and pathetic,” Isaac Chotiner writes.
