Now that Rep. Vito Fossella (R-N.Y.) has decided not to run for re-election in the wake of a drunk driving arrest and his admission of an affair, he should resign his seat, writes Kathryn Jean Lopez. Republicans already have enough to worry about without “bad apples” such as Fossella and Rep. Don Young (R-Alaska) sticking around, she writes. Noting that fried food and bottled water won’t be allowed on the floor of the Democratic convention, Mark Hemingway points out that Republicans are allowing beer on the floor of its convention, while the other party “forces you to drink wheatgrass juice… or whatever.”
