The Corner
Barack Obama would fit in well at the State Department, which takes a more nuanced but less practical view of Iran, Andy McCarthy writes. While Obama and the State Department both wrongly believe they can reason with terror-sponsoring regimes like Iran, President Bush had it right to ask whether they were “with us or against us,” according to McCarthy. And while Lisa Schiffren liked Bush’s speech praising Israel and criticizing Obama for calling for diplomacy with U.S. enemies, she writes that his top diplomat, Condoleezza Rice, undercut his words by pushing Israelis to meet with Hamas representatives.
