Power Line

John Edwards’s endorsement of Barack Obama is a “low-risk, low-reward” decision, writes Paul Mirengoff. The former North Carolina senator could have endorsed before his home state’s primary, but he instead waited until there was no chance of being embarassed that his chosen candidate would be shunned by the white, working-class voters that Edwards has championed, the blogger writes. Obama, meanwhile, may be the candidate losing his bearings, something the Democrat had accused John McCain, writes Scott Johnson. Obama while campaigning said incorrectly that Arabic translators deployed in Iraq are needed in Afghanistan, a country where Arabic isn’t one of the main languages, both ABC News and Johnson note.
