John Edwards’s endorsement of Barack Obama and the woes of the Republican Party top the Post. While the Obama campaign is “flying high” after picking up the backing of a former rival, Republicans were trying to recover from their special election loss in a Mississippi House race this week, the Post notes in a round-up of Wednesday’s news. In the blog, former Sen. Gary Hart (D-Colo.) writes that John McCain should be disqualified from the presidency if he really believes that the United States is at war with al Qaeda in Iraq. McCain is intelligent enough to know that the U.S. invasion kicked open a “1,300 year old hornets nest of violent rivalry inside Islam.”
