Power Line
While the conservative bloggers see the New York Times as misrepresenting Barack Obama’s policies, they understand Obama is a formidable general election candidate. A Times story suggesting that John McCain has lost “important nuances” gets Obama’s foreign policy wrong, John Hinderaker writes. While the story says that McCain erred by saying Obama supports talks with Iran without preconditions, Obama himself has said that he backs such a position, Hinderaker notes. Obama, however, has several things going for him heading into the general election, writes Scott Johnson. His race, his campaign’s ability to organize and his argument for a new, non-partisan type of politics on the heels of the Bush era should all help him against McCain, Johnson writes.
