TalkingPointsMemo
With Hillary Clinton now talking about breaking up the cartel of oil producing nations, Josh Marshall worries about the gap between Clinton’s statements and reality. After all, she’s recently dismissed economists’ arguments against the gas tax holiday and threatened the “obliteration” of Iran, he writes. He adds that Clinton doesn’t have a strong hand to play against the oil-rich countries, who don’t contribute as much to high oil prices as does rising demand created by growing Asian economies. Marshall, noting that Ohio Attorney General Mark Dann (D) is facing a brewing scandal for “fraternity house” behavior in his office, urges Dann to resist Democratic calls to step down so that he and his crack reporting staff can dig into the story.
