Arianna Huffington’s scoop that John McCain didn’t vote for George W. Bush in 2000 may be a pro-McCain leak, write Allahpundit and Ed Morrissey. Independent voters may view McCain’s 2000 decision as proof that he isn’t the Bush clone, says Allahpundit. Morrissey thanks Huffington since her report shows McCain has a different approach to politics than Bush, thereby undercutting the Democrats’ “McSame” argument. McCain, however, should consider conservatives when he talks about “comprehensive immigration reform” and judicial nominees, as he did recently on the campaign trail, writes Morrissey. While McCain may argue that the “Gang of 14” helped confirm two conservatives to the Supreme Court, the senator is mistaken proposing immigration reform that goes beyond securing the borders first, according to Morrissey.
