The Corner
John McCain is on shaky ground with conservatives when he courts the National Council of La Raza, bloggers write. McCain has already committed to a July appearance before the Hispanic advocacy group that to Victor Davis Hanson says appeals to “a sort of Hispanic racialist pride.” McCain also shouldn’t support a cap-and-trade system to halt emissions, since that doesn’t generate more benefits than costs, Jim Manzi writes. Instead, he should look for a “technology-focused insurance policy” that might avoid mandated emission reductions, he adds.
