Michelle Obama’s stump speech reminds conservative bloggers here that some liberals actually supported federal oversight of unions. Scott Johnson writes that Obama “seethes with bitterness” in mocking the idea that she and her husband are elitists, talking about paying for her education and blaming “nameless forces” for keeping her husband from securing the nomination. Johnson, after reading Monday’s Wall Street Journal report that Barack Obama told Teamsters he would work to end federal oversight of the union, recalls that The Nation opposed an end to the oversight after finding links between Teamsters’ leadership and the mob.
