Hillary Clinton gets some backup from Rich Lowry in her bid for the Democratic nomination. Lowry agrees with Clinton supporter Lanny Davis that Clinton is a safer bet for Democrats against John McCain, since Barack Obama is more unknown. Lowry also suggests that Democratic superdelegates look at the popular vote, not the pledged delegate lead, since delegate rules are “byzantine” and don’t have much of a connection to the “broader will of the electorate.”
