Contentions

The Democratic debate pleased the conservative bloggers over at Commentary. Jennifer Rubin writes that those on the right won’t be able to complain about the moderators in this debate, as they’ve asked about the flag pin, the capital gains tax and the potential chaos following an Iraq withdrawal, all things that conservatives had wanted asked. John Podhoretz writes that Hillary Clinton was “frighteningly good” and that Barack Obama was “very bad,” something that Podhoretz thinks should cause concern for Obama supporters who’ve presumed that their candidate would best John McCain in a debate. Rubin, however, adds that the debate may not matter in the Democratic race, as none of the debates so far, save the New Hampshire “you’re likeable enough” debate, has affected the primary that has followed.
