Michael Goldfarb analyzes the latest Israel lobbying group and Barack Obama’s decision to wear an American flag lapel pin. Goldfarb argues that the problem with “J Street,” the new “pro-peace, pro-Israel political voice,” is that it thinks it “knows better than the Israelis what’s in Israelis best interests.” Goldfarb, linking to video of Obama this week wearing the lapel pin, reminds readers that the Democrat made a “big show of taking it off” earlier in the campaign. (The candidate wore it at the event after a veteran gave it to him.) Goldfarb suggests that it’s part of Obama’s general election tact to the “non-America hating center.”
