The Post on Wednesday leads with Gen. David Petraeus’s statement that the no corners have been turned in Iraq. Rep. John Murtha (D-Pa.) blogs that the surge proves the military can’t guarantee economic progress or an effective government, and he cautions readers not to buy into the argument that chaos would result from withdrawal. Max Bergmann writes that though Petraeus and Amb. Ryan Crocker refuse to talk about the long-term strategy, they make “scary predictions” about what happens if the United States withdraws troops.
