Power Line

The portrayal of the Battle of Basra and the Bear Stearns “bailout” is on the minds of Power Line bloggers. Paul Mirengoff argues that the while the news pages of the Washington Post have taken an “ultra-negative view” of fighting between Shiite militias and Iraqi government forces in Basra, the newspaper’s editorial board gets it right by seeing the results as “mixed.” John Hinderaker calls Robert Reich’s latest column “demagogic” for claiming that the Bear Stearns deal requires “borrowing” from the public. Hinderaker notes that Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke doesn’t see a net cost to taxpayers.
