They note McCain making varied statements in television appearances Tuesday about Moqtada al-Sadr’s influence, Dick Cheney’s swearing off “moderate campaign promises” in 2000 (as recounted by former Senator Lincoln Chafee (R-R.I.), and the Bush administration’s announcement that it will bypass more than 30 laws and regulations to build the Mexican border fence.
