President Obama will travel on Dallas on Wednesday to thank neighborhood canvassers and navigators helping residents to enroll in ObamaCare, the White House said late Sunday.
A White House official said Obama will visit Temple Emanu-El to meet with volunteers from Dallas Area Interfaith, a community group working on enrollment and outreach.
{mosads}During his Dallas trip, Obama will also attend a Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee fundraiser that was postponed in early October due to the government shutdown.
The trip is part of a stepped-up administration effort to educate consumers about enrollment options following the troubled rollout of the ObamaCare website.
Those website problems will prevent initial ObamaCare enrollment numbers, to be released later this month, from reaching administration expectations.
“I can promise you that the first enrollment numbers which will be released later this month are not going to be what we want them to be,” White House senior adviser Dan Pfeiffer said Sunday on ABC’s “This Week.” “There’s no question about that.”
White House officials and Cabinet members are being dispatched to the 10 cities with the highest rates of uninsured residents that participate in the federal marketplace.
Housing and Urban Development Secretary Shaun Donovan will travel to Tampa on Friday and Labor Secretary Tom Perez will visit Orlando next week, the White House official said.
Obama will also appear Monday at a healthcare summit run by the group formed from his former reelection campaign, according to White House and Organizing For Action officials.
The president is expected to speak at an event designed to rally grassroots supporters to help the administration’s push to get uninsured consumers to purchase healthcare plans available under ObamaCare.
