Obama intel chief promises the truth about Russian election meddling in new book

The former director of national intelligence under President Obama is promising to tell “the truth” about Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election in a new book.

James Clapper is writing an untitled book for Viking, set to be published next year, The Associated Press reported Thursday.

{mosads}Clapper told the AP in a statement that he will share the “warts and all” of his time in the Obama administration. Viking said in a statement to the AP that Clapper will share “the truth” about Russian interference as well.

The former intelligence chief will also write about his long career in the government and military in the book.

Clapper has said that he doesn’t know whether Russia colluded with President Trump during the campaign, largely because he wasn’t aware of the investigation until former FBI Director James Comey publicly announced the probe.

He has been frequently critical of Trump, saying that “our institutions are under assault” by Trump and that the Watergate scandal “pales” in comparison to what the country is facing now.
