Report: Bush wanted to run Major League Baseball before entering politics

Bush served as the Rangers’s managing general partner until 1994, when he was elected to his first of two terms as Texas governor. He went from the governor’s mansion to the White House in 2000.

The former president has kept a relatively low profile since leaving the Oval Office in January of last year, but he has showed up at several Rangers games. He threw out the first pitch at an April 2009 game and he was in the front row to watch the Rangers’s two home playoff games against the Tampa Bay Rays this week.

A Bush spokesman wouldn’t rule out to the Times the possibility that the former president would be on hand for the Rangers’s home games against the New York Yankees in the American League Championship Series, which starts Friday.
