Clinton: No pat-down if I can help it

Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said Sunday security threats were a concern in the Transportation Security Administration’s new invasive pat-downs and body scans, but heartily acknowledged that she wouldn’t want to go through the screening herself.

“Not if I could avoid it!” Clinton said on CBS’s “Face the Nation” when asked whether she would be willing to go through the procedures. “Who would?”

She said Homeland Security faced the challenge of terrorists adapting their methods, where they might “hide explosives in crazy things like underwear.”

“I think that we have to constantly be asking ourselves how do we calculate the risk,” Clinton said.

Still, she added, “I understand how difficult it is and how offensive it must be for those going through it.”
