{mosads}”Gov. Romney was supposed to be on with us this Thursday with Ann Romney,” co-host Barbara Walters announced on the show Monday, according to CNN.
“We were looking forward to it. Over the weekend, his people said that he had scheduling problems and would not be coming on with us. Nor at this point did he feel that he could reschedule. We are happy to have Mrs. Romney on with us. We are sorry that we won’t have Gov. Romney.”
Earlier this year, Mitt Romney called appearing on “The View” very “high-risk, because, of the five women on it, only one is conservative, and four are sharp-tongued and not conservative.”
Romney last appeared on the show in March 2010, but agreed to guest on the show again with his wife shortly after his comments, made at a private fundraiser, were released last month in a secretly-filmed video.
“If you can’t handle four sharp-tongued women, how are you going to handle the country?” co-host Sherri Shepherd asked on an episode of the show that aired shortly after the video’s release.
The “conservative” co-host Romney mentioned is Elisabeth Hasselbeck. Several of the other four hosts threatened to sharply question the GOP presidential nominee in his next appearance.
Co-host Whoopi Goldberg, who had told Romney in 2010 she might consider voting for him, lashed out on Twitter.
“Yes once I thought there was the possibility of a moderate rrepublican who could make the race with Obama at least interesting,” she tweeted last month. “But that was Months ago before your desperation to be Presedent made u forget your ideals [sic].”
President Obama and first lady Michelle Obama last appeared on “The View” in a joint appearance late last month.
Ann Romney’s appearance on “The View” is yet another signal of the higher profile she has taken in the media over the past few weeks.
In the last month, the prospective first lady has also co-hosted an episode of “Good Morning America” and appeared on “Access Hollywood” and “The Tonight Show.”
Ann Romney also taped an appearance on “The Rachael Ray Show” last week, though the episode’s air date is still to be determined by CBS.
