Pro-Obama super-PAC outraises Romney group

{mosads}Restore, the super-PAC supporting Romney, surpassed their fundraising totals from both July and August combined, with $14.8 million raised in September, but the total fell short of the Obama PAC’s efforts.

Priorities’s strong haul was aided by multiple seven-figure donors including producer Steven Spielberg, Dreamworks Animation Chief Executive Officer Jeffrey Katzenberg, and David L. Boies Jr., a New York-based attorney who fought to overturn California’s Proposition — which sought to define marriage as between one man and one woman.

Other notable donors to the pro-Obama super-PAC include Samuel Rawlings Walton, the grandson of Wal-Mart founder Sam Walton, who gave $300,000, and Matt Groening, creator of “The Simpsons,” who contributed $50,000. 

Priorities USA Action spent $12.8 million last month and still has $7.3 million cash on hand with a little over two weeks before election day.

In August, Restore Our Future spent $21.2 million to help the Romney campaign combat a blitz of ads from outside groups. In September, however, the group only spent $4.6 million.

The conservative super-PAC boosted their totals in September thanks to several six- and seven-figure donations, as well.

Joseph W Craft III, the CEO of Alliance Coal, LLC gave $500,000, which brings his total contributions to the group up to $1,000,000 for the election cycle.

Bill Koch’s company, Oxbow Carbon, gave $1,000,000 last month – bringing his donation total to $2,000,000 for the year.
