Romney and his wife, Ann, will attend a reception in their honor at the J.W. Marriott Hotel, according to reports. The event will be hosted by Virginia philanthropist Catherine Reynolds and Marriott International Chairman Bill Marriott Jr.
CNN reports that the Romneys will also attend the black-tie Alfalfa Dinner on Saturday in the capital.
On Wednesday, Romney’s former running mate Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) told The Wall Street Journal that he emails the former Massachusetts governor “quite a bit” and that he expected “to have lunch together in a few days.”
Romney did not attend the inauguration of President Obama, who held his ceremonial swearing-in on Monday.
He was last in Washington in December, when he met the president for a lunch at the White House. The two spoke about their “shared interests” and pledged to “stay in touch.”
