Clinton is a ‘no’ for future political jobs

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton ruled out on Wednesday any future jobs in politics, from being secretary of Defense to vice president to president.

Clinton ruled out a variety of possible future jobs in the Obama administration, as well as the possibility of reprising her 2008 campaign to become president herself.

Clinton flatly said, “No” — four times — when asked by CNN’s Wolf Blitzer if she wants to serve a second term as secretary of State, as secretary of Defense, as vice president, or as president.

“I want to be part of helping to represent the United States at this critical moment in time, to do everything I can in support of the president and our government and the people of our country to stand for our values and our ideals, to stand up for our security, which has to remain first and foremost in my mind and to advance America’s interests,” Clinton said in an interview to air this afternoon. “And there isn’t anything that I can imagine doing after this that would be as demanding, as challenging or rewarding.”

Clinton said that she enjoyed running for president, but that she’d be “moving on” after 2012.

“Well that’s very kind, but I am doing what I want to do right now and I have no intention or any idea even of running again,” Clinton said in response to hopes that she’d run. “I’m going to do the best I can at this job for the next two years.”
