Administration to brief lawmakers on Libya
The Obama administration will brief lawmakers Wednesday on the Libya military mission after the White House faced fierce criticism from Capitol Hill.
{mosads}The classified briefing will be co-hosted by the Republican conference and Democratic caucus at the direction of Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio), according to an announcement.
Boehner on Wednesday blasted the White House for a lack of consultations and also criticized the administration for not providing clear goals and an endgame for the Libyan mission.
The administration officials who will brief lawmakers are Defense Sec. Robert Gates, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Director of National Intelligence James Clapper and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mike Mullen.
Congress has been on recess this week and will return to Washington next week.
The briefing is open to members and not staff, according to the announcement. It will take place at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday in the Capitol Visitors Center Auditorium.
