House GOP pushes back vote on spending agreement to Thursday

The House will vote Thursday, not Wednesday, on the agreement to fund the government for the rest of the fiscal year.

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor’s (R-Va.) office said the House vote on the agreement to cut nearly $40 billion from the rest of the 2011 budget would take place Thursday.

Cantor had initially scheduled a vote for Wednesday. But because the final legislation was not introduced until 2 a.m. on Tuesday morning, Republicans were forced to push back the vote or violate a new GOP rule requiring that all legislation be posted online for three days before a vote.

The vote will make for a busy second half of the week for House Republicans; they’re expected to consider Rep. Paul Ryan’s (R-Wis.) 2012 budget blueprint as well.
