Ron Paul: Presidential decision will come ‘within a month’

Texas Rep. Ron Paul (R) said Monday he expects to announce whether he will run for president “within a month.”

During an appearance on ABC’s “The View,” Paul was coy about when he will make his decision.

{mosads}”There’s temptation to do it, but I’ll announce within a month,” he said.

Paul is being very tight-lipped about when he plans to roll out his presidential bid, even though he has taken actions that indicate he is primed to jump into the race.

On April 6, the congressman said he is “getting awfully close” to filing legal paperwork to run, and that he would make a final decision “in a month or so.”

Paul is scheduled to appear at the first GOP presidential primary debate in South Carolina next week. He also formed a “testing the waters” account earlier this month that allows him to raise funds for a potential campaign.

Should he form a presidential exploratory committee, Paul would be the fifth Republican to take that official step toward running for president.

Paul said it is “unlikely” that his son, freshman Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), will run for president. The younger Paul said he might run, and only if his father decided not to enter the fray.

“I don’t think it’s likely to happen. There is a little bit of discipline in the family,” the congressman said of his son.
