Obama to meet SEALs from bin Laden mission in Friday visit to Ky.

President Obama will meet members of the Navy SEAL team that killed Osama bin Laden when he visits a military base Friday in Kentucky.

The Associated Press, citing an anonymous source, reported the meeting will occur during Obama’s previously announced visit to Fort Campbell in Kentucky. 

{mosads}Obama has participated in a series of military-themed events since the SEAL team, known as Team 6, on Sunday slew the al Qaeda leader responsible for 9/11. 

The president will address troops returning home from Afghanistan at Fort Campbell, home of the 101st Airborne Division. 

A White House official said the president met on Wednesday with Adm. William McRaven, commander of the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) that includes SEAL Team 6.

The official said the president was able “to thank him personally in the Oval office and will have the opportunity to privately thank some of the special operators involved in the operation tomorrow at Ft. Campbell.”

The 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment, known as the Night Stalkers, is based at the Kentucky base. The Night Stalkers piloted the operation that killed bin Laden, according to reports.

On Thursday, Obama participated in a wreath-laying ceremony at Ground Zero in New York City and met with 9/11 families and first responders.
