Pelosi fundraises off the threat of a ‘Republican war on women’

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) condemned a “Republican war on women” in a fundraising pitch for Democrats.

Pelosi solicited cash to push back against H.R. 3, legislation passed recently by House Republicans which would end public funding for abortion services.

{mosads}”House Republicans should be working to help put Americans back to work, not waging an outrageous war against millions of women and their private health decisions,” Pelosi wrote in an email pitch for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC). “Let us never allow the health of American women to come under attack. Let us stand together to expand care, not limit it.”

Democrats all week have aggressively sought donations based on H.R. 3, mindful that many donors and liberals are highly attentive to the fight over abortion rights. Rep. Jackie Speier (D-Calif.) also sent out a pitch on behalf of the DCCC this week on the same issue.

Pelosi has been a longtime and high-profile supporter of abortion rights, and she asked supporters for roughly $50,000 more in contributions.

“We cannot sit silent in the face of this extremist agenda,” she said.
