Cantor says GOP to unveil growth agenda

“This is a plan for America’s job creators, this plan to make it easier for entrepreneurs and small businesses and families in America to see a better future through growth,” Cantor said.

Over the past several weeks, Cantor has given a series of speeches highlighting the need to reduce the regulatory burden on businesses, revamp corporate taxes and rework the system for doling out work visas to highly skilled laborers. GOP lawmakers have also discussed changes in patent law and intellectual property.

Democrats have attacked Republicans for insisting on “draconian” cuts to federal budgets without increasing taxes to pay off America’s debt.

House Republicans have ruled out raising taxes to pay down the deficit, but Cantor said that doesn’t mean they don’t support increased revenue going into federal coffers. He said the growth agenda would broaden the tax base, which would raise more revenue for the government.
