Palin joked about ‘VP buzz’ with Bush
Sarah Palin talked about her vice presidential aspirations with President George W. Bush several days before she was picked for the spot.
In response to one of her aides, Palin wrote on Aug. 8, 2008, that she and the president discussed her son’s deployment in Iraq and “joked about” rumors that Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) planned to choose her as his running mate, according to emails released Friday by the Alaskan government.
“The Pres and I spoke about military, incl Track’s deployment and how iraq is a different place than it was a year ago. He also spoke about (and we joked about) VP buzz,” Palin wrote from her personal Yahoo address.
On Aug. 29 of that year, McCain announced Palin as his vice presidential choice, surprising many in the political world.
The emails from Palin have been made available to the public by several news websites.
