Progressives want Obama-Palin matchup

A large plurality of
progressive bloggers want the opportunity to take on Sarah Palin in 2012,
according to a new survey.

A straw poll of attendees at
this weekend’s “Netroots Nation” conference in Las Vegas shows that 48 percent
of attendees want Palin to be President Obama’s opponent in 2012.

That’s far ahead of their
second place preference, Ron Paul, who garnered just 11 percent.

The straw poll also showed
strong support for Obama. Eighty-four percent of attendees approved of his job
performance, despite a number of administration policies that have irked
liberals.

Nevertheless, respondents
urged the administration to focus on the economy. Seventy-four percent said
jobs should be Obama’s top priority. Getting out of Afghanistan came in a
distant second, at 8 percent.

An overwhelming majority,
93 percent, said government spending was the best way to create jobs.

The poll was conducted by the Democratic firms Greenberg, Quinlan,
Rosner alongside Democracy Corps.
