Huntsman campaign manager quits

The campaign manager for former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman’s (R) presidential campaign has quit.

Campaign manager Susie Wiles has left the campaign, Huntsman adviser John Weaver confirmed to The Hill on Thursday.

{mosads}”Susie has served the campaign well and was vital in getting it off the ground in such a short time-frame,” Weaver said in a statement.

“In just under three months Governor Huntsman has returned from China, launched a campaign and created a strong infrastructure in the 3 early primary states,” Weaver said.

Huntsman Communications Director Matt David will replace Wiles.

“Now the campaign is moving into phase two which will be more aggressive from a messaging and tactical standpoint and Matt is prepared to take that on,” Weaver continued.

Wiles’s departure is a troubling sign for Huntsman’s campaign, which has received a fair amount of media attention despite low numbers in Republican primary presidential polls.

Most recently, Huntsman has been polling close to the margin of error, well behind front-runner former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney (R), who is considered Huntsman’s primary opponent.
