“You gotta say, only in America,” the majority leader said before he restarted his remarks.
This isn’t the first time that Cantor has had to deal with protesters while speaking at a university. In October, Cantor’s office canceled a speech at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton Business School out of fear that protesters would fill the seats and disrupt the event.
Cantor’s speech on Thursday was on job creation and economic innovation. He also addressed American discontent with politics in Washington.
“One thing I hear over and over is: ‘The only thing that worries us more than what Washington has already done to us is what Washington will do to us next.’ But it’s easy to bemoan our politics,” Cantor said. “No doubt, they are going the wrong way. Even so, it falls on all of us to identify the real problems and work towards common-sense solutions.”
