NJ Gov. Christie: ‘No regrets’ on evacuations

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) said Sunday that he has “no regrets” about his decision to order mandatory evacuations ahead of Hurricane Irene, which packed less of a punch than feared as it battered the East Coast.

“The best way to ensure there is no loss of life on the New Jersey coast was for there to be no human life on the New Jersey coast,” Christie told CBS News.

“We are going to make sure that we get them back as quickly as possible, but we are going to get them back alive, and that is the most important thing,” Christie said.

Christie on Friday ordered evacuations from a slew of areas on the New Jersey shore.
