Obamas pay respects to Flight 93 site
President Obama and the First Lady continued to commemorate the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, by paying their respects at the crash site of United Flight 93 in Shanksville, PA.
The pair laid a wreath in front of a new memorial, which recognizes the passengers that took control of the hijacked plane before terrorists were able to crash it into the U.S. Capitol.
{mosads}After laying the wreath, the Obamas stood silently before it for a moment, before walking over to greet those gathered for the event. A chant of, “U.S.A! U.S.A!” broke out as they walked.
The Shanksville appearance came after the president, alongside former President George W. Bush, met in New York City as part of a remembrance ceremony there. Both spoke briefly there: Obama quoted scripture, while Bush read from a letter Abraham Lincoln sent to a woman who lost five sons in the Civil War.
The president will later pay a visit to the Pentagon, and make remarks at a memorial concert in Washington.
