No teleprompter for Christie at Reagan Library speech

Christie delivered his speech by reading from a paper copy of his prepared remarks, at times deviating from his script.

{mosads}While teleprompters have become a standard aid for delivering major political speeches, Republicans have criticized President Obama for using one during even minor appearances. 

Obama’s opponents have attempted to work the teleprompter into a narrative about Obama being superficial or overly slick, implying that he needs a safety net to deliver polished remarks.

In February, Rep. Steve Womack (R-Ark.) sardonically proposed cutting funding for the president’s teleprompter.
