Rep. Walsh: Boehner doesn’t want me around
{mosads}Walsh, a fiery Tea Party conservative known for breaking with leadership on a number of issues, pledged that he will fight both Democrats and Republicans in order to avoid compromise.
“If we send typical Republicans to Washington, I can tell you, the typical Republicans will do what helped get us in this mess and they’ll forget they’re Republicans,” Walsh said, speaking at a town hall in the Illinois district where he plans to run against Rep. Randy Hultgren (R-Ill.) next year.
Walsh also characterized Hultgren as the type of conformist member of Congress that Boehner would prefer.
“Randy does what he’s told by them,” Walsh said. “If it’s Randy Hultgren against Joe Walsh running for this Congressional seat, I can guarantee you John Boehner and other folks are going to do whatever they can to help Randy get elected.”
Hultgren’s campaign told the Chronicle that Walsh was “grandstanding,” an accusation Walsh has faced in the past.
