Obama’s flight to Texas delayed after K9 alert

President Obama’s flight to Texas was delayed for nearly an hour after a car at the White House tripped off a law enforcement dog.

The Secret Service said the departure was delayed out of an abundance of caution and the car had been cleared.

“K9 alerted to a vehicle parked in the Ellipse parking area,” the Secret Service said in a statement. “The vehicle was searched utilizing MPD EOD.”

President Obama in Air Force One took off from Andrews Air Force Base just after 3 p.m. The head of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, Michael Bennet (D-Colo.), is traveling with him. The scheduled departure time was 2:10 p.m.

Obama is scheduled to attend a DSCC fundraiser.

He will also be pressuring Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R) and other Republican governors to expand their Medicare programs under ObamaCare.

Obama’s scheduled trip to the state in October was canceled amid the government shutdown.
