Obama to discuss botched ACA rollout on NBC
President Obama will sit for an one-on-one television interview Thursday afternoon to discuss the Affordable Care Act as the White House continues to struggle with the botched rollout of the president’s signature healthcare reform legislation.
{mosads}The interview with NBC White House correspondent Chuck Todd will be the president’s first extensive interview on problems surrounding implementation of ObamaCare.
The president is likely to face questions about why HealthCare.gov wasn’t ready to work when it launched at the beginning of last month, as well as his frequent pledge that consumers who were happy with their insurance could keep it under the new law. Many individuals who privately purchase insurance have received cancellation notices in recent weeks, sparking outrage among consumers.
At a healthcare event in Dallas on Thursday, Obama said he was “not happy with” the first month in which consumers were eligible to purchase coverage on the ObamaCare exchanges.
“Nothing drives me more crazy than the fact that right now, there’s great insurance to be had out there, choice and competition, where people can save money for a better product — except too many folks haven’t been able to get through the website,” he said.
