Christie: Obama apology ‘not enough’

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) on Sunday said he told President Obama to apologize for suggesting Americans could keep their insurance under ObamaCare, but that the president’s apology wasn’t enough.

{mosads}Speaking on CBS’s “Face the Nation,” Christie suggested he was the inspiration for the apology. Obama said earlier this week that he’s sorry that Americans losing their insurance are “finding themselves in this situation based on assurances they got from me.”

Christie said the apology was “not enough.”

“But I had said to him earlier last week that he should apologize. It tells people that he was wrong,” he said.

Pressed on whether he specifically told Obama to apologize — the two spoke on the phone after Christie’s smashing reelection victory on Tuesday night — Christie said he wasn’t sure if he was “the one who suggested it.”

“But I said last week that he should, people should apologize. And I’ve talked about it in general in public life. When you make a mistake you should own up to it and apologize for it, and I think people give you credit for that,” he said.

“The fact is that the president didn’t tell the truth,” he added, suggesting that the president needs to “confront [that lie] in a head-on way.”
