Radel busted at Circa restaurant at Dupont
Rep. Trey Radel (R-Fla.), who pleaded guilty Wednesday to misdemeanor cocaine possession, was busted by law enforcement after striking the deal at Circa, a midscale bistro and bar located one block north of Dupont Circle, according to law enforcement sources.
{mosads}During Radel’s arraignment, prosecutor Nihar Mohanty described Radel meeting an acquaintance as well as an undercover police officer at an unnamed restaurant, where the officer offered to sell Radel cocaine. The two, he said, discussed the drug’s price and quality before settling on Radel paying $250 for 3.5 grams.
The drug itself was not exchanged at the restaurant, however. Instead, Radel paid the officer outside and then received the cocaine from the officer’s car.
A Circa representative declined to comment.
