Former second lady Joan Mondale has died at 83, according to multiple reports.
Mondale was the wife of former Vice President Walter Mondale. She entered end-of-life hospice care on Friday.
{mosads}“We are grateful for the expressions of love and support we have received. Joan was greatly loved by many. We will miss her dearly,” Walter Mondale said in a statement, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.
She had been living in Minneapolis. Her husband, Walter, now 86, was vice president to former President Jimmy Carter from 1977 to 1981.
The former second lady was a major proponent for culture and arts, and earned the nickname “Joan of Art.”
