Rep. Grayson denies pushing estranged wife

Rep. Alan Grayson (D-Fla.) on Tuesday denied pushing his estranged wife in an incident last weekend, according to multiple reports.

“It simply isn’t the way she described it,” Grayson told reporters, ABC News reports. “She hit me and I retreated. That’s what happened.”

Lolita Carson-Grayson accused the Florida Democrat of injuring her after allegedly pushing her this past weekend. The Orlando Sentinel reported he pushed her against a door and she fell to the ground. 

{mosads}The congressman was not arrested, but a judge granted a temporary protective injunction against him. The order will remain in effect until he and Carson-Grayson appear before a judge March 20. Carson-Grayson filed for divorce in January.

Grayson is currently serving his 2nd term in Congress. He was first elected in 2008, and served one term before being defeated by Rep. Daniel Webster (R-Fla.). He ran again in 2012, and took office last year. 

In December, it was reported that Grayson lost $18 million in an investment fraud scheme. He also fell victim to a fraud scheme in 2009, but won $34 million after filing a lawsuit based on federal racketeering laws.
