Giuliani: Bridge report vindicates Christie
Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani (R) said Sunday that a new report helps to vindicate Gov. Chris Christie (R-N.J.) in the George Washington Bridge controversy.
{mosads}“It is a vindication of the fact that the governor didn’t know beforehand, and the governor didn’t order it,” Giuliani, a Christie ally, said on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”
Still, Giuliani also acknowledged that the report, which was commissioned by Christie, wasn’t a complete investigation. Critics of that investigation into lane closures on the bridge have said key figures, like Bridget Anne Kelly, a former Christie aide, and David Wildstein, the Port Authority official, were not interviewed.
But the former New York mayor said that the Christie-backed inquiry was broader than any other investigation into the matter so far.
“I would not accept it as a complete investigation,” Giuliani said. “But I would accept it for what it’s worth.”
“This report has gone as far as anybody can go,” he added. “No, it’s not a final or complete report. But nor should it be tossed aside as not having extremely valuable information.”
