NJ Dem: Christie should testify under oath

A Democratic state senator investigating the George Washington Bridge controversy insisted Sunday that she was willing to accept New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie’s (R) side of the story, but also urged the governor to sit for an interview with her panel.

{mosads}Loretta Weinberg, the co-chairwoman of a committee investigating lane closures on the bridge, said that the panel had not gained access to all the documents it needs, nor had it been able to interview all the key figures in the controversy.

“I’m willing to accept Gov. Christie’s side of the story all the way along,” Weinberg said on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”

Weinberg also slammed what she termed a “so-called report” released this week that was commissioned by the New Jersey governor. The state senator called the report sexist for getting into the personal life of Bridget Anne Kelly, a former Christie aide and a central figure in the investigation.

Weinberg also said that she believed all members of the committee investigating the bridge would be “satisfied” if Christie testified under oath and brought all the documents they were seeking.

But she also added that wouldn’t necessarily mean an end to the investigation.

“It would depend on what we heard from the governor, and if that leads us any place else,” Weinberg said.
