Clinton tops Bush, Rubio in Florida

Hillary Clinton continues to outperform all potential GOP presidential candidates in a 2016 general election matchup in Florida, according to a new poll.

{mosads}A Quinnipiac poll released Thursday found she tops former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R), her closest opponent, by 8 points in the important presidential swing state, 49 percent to 41 percent.

Other potential Republican candidates trail Clinton by double digits, including Florida Sen. Marco Rubio (52 percent to 40 percent), Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul (55 percent to 37 percent), New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (52 percent to 34 percent), Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan (56 percent to 36 percent), Texas Sen. Ted Cruz (57 percent to 31 percent) and Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee (53 percent to 35 percent).

The matchup between Clinton and Bush is largely unchanged since the firm last tested the question in January, when Clinton had a 6-point advantage.

Fifty-eight percent of Florida voters have a favorable view of Clinton, while 53 percent have a favorable view of Bush. Another 43 percent have a favorable view of Rubio.

Bush continues to lead in the race for the GOP nomination in the state. Twenty-seven percent of Republican voters would choose him, according to the poll, followed by Paul, with 14 percent, and Rubio, with 11 percent. No other potential GOP candidate garners double digits; 16 percent say they are undecided.

Clinton continues to dominate the race for the Democratic nomination, with Vice President Biden trailing far behind.

President Obama maintains a 46 percent approval rating  in the state, while 50 percent disapprove of his job performance.

The poll surveyed 1,413 registered Florida voters and has a margin of error of plus or minus 2.6 percentage points.
